149 95MEV/U 12C Nuclear fragmentation measurements for hadrontherapy purposes
Abstract
To keep the benefits of the precise ions ballistic, hadrontherapy treatments require a very high accuracy on the dose deposition. The largest uncertainty on physical dose relies on the ion fragmentation process. Up to now, the simulation codes are not able to reproduce the fragmentation process with the required precision. The constraints on nuclear models and fragmentation cross sections between 30 and 400MeV/u are not sufficient.
