Abstract

Four Δ I =1 bands consisting of strong magnetic dipole transitions have been observed in 133 Pr, produced in the 100 Mo( 37 Cl, 4 nγ ) reaction, using the Eurogam ii γ -ray spectrometer. The structure of three of these bands is discussed in terms of prolate high- K configurations, related to the I π = K π =8 − isomeric state ( νh 11/2 g 7/2 ) in the 132 Ce core. The fourth band, with a reduced moment of inertia, is interpreted as a collectively rotating oblate structure involving rotationally aligned h 11/2 neutrons. (Elsevier)
