Response measurements of NE102 to Z = 2-6 ions at E/A = 0.15-1.5 GeV, and predictions for higher Z's
Abstract
The response of NE102 to 2≤ Z ≤6 ions having E / A =0.15–1.5 GeV has been measured and analyzed. The data show an important Z dependence, not reproduced by the semi-empirical model of Birks. Published lower-energy data support this finding. A model, taking into account the energy deposition by secondary electrons, and the energy flow from solute-to-solvent molecules is used to explain the observed behavior. (Elsevier)
